Frequently Asked Questions

  • When can I expect to feel better after stem cell treatment?
Many patients report feeling better the after the first day after treatment, although results vary based on a patient’s specific diagnosis and treatment protocol, which may be part of a multi-faceted treatment plan. Patients also report even more improvement in the weeks and months after stem cell treatment.
  • How do I know if a stem cell treatment is right for me?
Your Patient Advocate will consult with our team of expert scientists and physicians to review your case and evaluate stem cell therapy as an appropriate treatment option. Although stem cell treatment can help alleviate many spine and disc related conditions, it may not be suitable for treating some specific disorders. Learn more by requesting a free consultation here. It’s easy, confidential, and we’ll be happy to answer all of your questions about stem cell therapy and how our treatments may be able to help you.
  • How does stem cell therapy work?
Stem cells are the body’s own natural source of new cells to replace older, damaged, and diseased cells and are produced in our bone marrow. Unfortunately, the number of new stem cells our bodies produce declines as we age. Stem cell therapy provides a fresh supply of new healthy stem cells to amplify the body’s own natural repair and healing process. By creating an optimal environment for the body to heal itself, stem cells help reduce inflammation, regenerate damaged tissue, and relieve pain.
  • What type of pain, injuries, or conditions can stem cell therapy help heal?"
Stem cells have proven to be effective at treating a wide range of injuries and disorders including: Herniated discs Bulging discs Degenerative disc disease Spinal stenosis Spinal cord injury Injuries and degeneration in the neck Injuries and degeneration in the lumbar region (lower back) Because stem cells reduce inflammation and regenerate damaged tissue, treatment can be highly effective at relieving pain in cases where invasive surgery poses risks, previous surgeries have failed. or medications are not effective. • How do stem cells work to alleviate chronic pain?
Because high-potency stem cells communicate with your own cells, they can “sense” where there is deterioration in disc tissues and inflammation. This signaling process “teaches” your own cells how to heal themselves and restore disc tissue to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain. This process extends for many months and even years after treatment.
  • What types of pain can stem cells help treat?
Patients receive stem cell therapy for pain from injuries or degeneration that can extend from the neck, down the middle of back, and down to the lower back, or lumbar region of the spine.
  • How do stem cells work to treat herniated discs, bulging discs and degenerative disc disease?"
Normally discs cushion each of the 24 small bones in the spine (called vertebrae) bones so they don’t rub against each other. These discs are filled with a gel-like substance to support the spine, but injury, disease, or the natural aging process can cause disc tissue to deteriorate. Loss of disc tissue often results in a loss of natural hydration and deforms discs so they bulge or become herniated. Stem cells are used by the body to generate new disc tissue that rehydrates discs and promotes healing in a way that returns them to a normal shape. Learn more about treating degenerative disc disease here.
  • Can I expect any pain from my procedure?
Stem cells may be infused in an intravenous (IV) drip or through an intrathecal infusion that’s similar to an epidural injection. Some patients may notice minor pain common to a needle injection, while others report no pain at all.
  • Are stem cells safe?
Yes. Not only does research show that stem cell therapy offers a high level of safety and presents little risk of any side effects, BioXcellerator takes great care to review each patient’s medical history before treatment. If any issues raise concerns about safety, we’ll help address those issues before treatment.
  • Are BioXcellerator procedures covered by insurance?
Typically, no. If your insurance company does not cover stem cell therapy, we do offer financing options for our treatments.
  • Do you track results on patient outcomes and treatment success rates?
Yes, and we regularly publish these results. See our Patient Testimonials page and results. Treatment Results: Jim McMahon Treated for back pain and pain throughout the body Treatment Results: Kevin Nash Treated for chronic back pain and numbness from degenerative disc disease (multiple herniated discs) Treatment Results: Chuck LiddellTreated for back and neck pain Treatment Results: Jim Stewart Treated for chronic lumbar pain (degenerative disc disease)
  • Why are BioXcellerator treatments not available in the U.S.?
Although the type of stem cells BioXcellerator uses — mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) — can be used at U.S. clinics, current FDA regulations do not allow these cells to be reproduced into high-potency formulations. So, while the same type of stem cells may be available in the U.S., patients receive far fewer stem cells, which can reduce the overall effectiveness of treatment.
